Banbury extended their fine run at home to five successive wins thanks to mainly to a blistering first-half performance which saw them three goals to the good by the break.

There were a number of changes to the Banbury team from last weekend. Charlie Hawtin, Lee Henderson and keeper Jack Harding returned after long-term injuries stretching back to the autumn. With Matt Taylor on duty for Oxford U23s, Matt Timms came in for his first start at left-back.

Although Coalville had the lion's share of early possession it was Banbury who looked most dangerous. Ravi Shamsi was put through by Greg Kaziboni after Ricky Johnson had flicked on a Harding goal kick but his effort was too close to keeper Walton. However, Banbury were on the scoresheet after 14 minutes. Shamsi set Kaziboni away on the left and as he entered the penalty area he was tripped to give an easy penalty decision for referee Barrow. Giorgio Rasulo stepped up and converted to Walton's right.

Four minutes later and it was 2-0. Ricky Johnson did well to hold the ball up on the right and then slid through a great pass for Kaziboni. He spun away from two defenders to leave a clear run at goal which ended with him firing a shot past Walton's left hand.

Coalville threatened with a couple of efforts, one wide of the goal and another straight at Harding but Banbury could also have bagged a third. Rasulo almost sneaked a free kick from the right inside the near post but his effort was scrambled away by Walton. He then shot too close to the keeper after some brilliant keepy-uppy and a cross from Kaziboni on the right had caused havoc in the visitor's defence.

However Banbury weren't to be denied a third. Rasulo intercepted a pass inside his own half by the right touchline and set Shamsi away. Despite giving away almost a foot and probably two stone he was too strong for Coalville's Fenton and then cut in from the right to curl home a left-foot shot.

Understandably Banbury were unable to maintain the same momentum in the second half but grabbed a fourth on 63 minutes. They recycled the ball after a corner, Walton did well to keep out a Rasulo shot deflected by Johnson but the ball fell kindly to Henderson who stabbed it home from three yards out.

As Banbury eased off, some late Coalville fight saw them reduce the deficit with Alex Dean running 60 yards to score and Berridge bundling in a shot in injury time but it could not take the gloss off a fine attacking performance.
