United hit eight in final pre-season friendly before season proper starts next Saturday

United had an early scare when a shot from just outside the penalty area on the left by Nathan Wills hit the far post after just three minutes but were soon in front when Felipe Barcelos knocked home from eight yards out a cross from Darius Browne in the seventh minute.

United would have to wait until the 30th minute before making it 2-0 when a low cross from the left by Zac McEachran was fired home by Ricky Johnson from the edge of the six yard box.

Three goals in the last five minutes of the half made it 5-0 at half time.

Barcelos scored his second in the 39th minute when good play down the right hand side between Declan Benjamin and McEachran saw the former cross low into the centre where the Brazilian born striker made no mistake from six yards. Then Johnson got his second goal of the game two minutes later and this was virtually a carbon copy of his first with him knocking home the cross from McEachran. Barcelos completed his hat-trick just before the interval, latching on to a defence splitting pass from Johnson before slotting the ball neatly past the visiting exposed custodian from 12 yards into the bottom corner of the net.

Banbury would complete the scoring with a three goal spell in the space of six minutes starting in the 72nd minute.

Leam Howards created the first, taking the ball through down deep inside the left hand side of the Wellingborough penalty area before knocking it across to Mark Janes who had the simple task of tapping the ball home under the crossbar.

Leam Howards would then score himself taking the ball through down the left, before rounding the Wellingborough goalkeeper and slotting the ball home.

The final goal saw Mark Bell pick out Janes on the edge of the Wellingborough penalty area who was then given time to pick his spot and he needed no second invitation with his shot finding the bottom corner of the net to make it 8-0.

Banbury United: Jack Harding, Callum White (Jacob Blackstock 73), David Lynn (Bradley Singh 73), Jack Self, Jack Westbrook (Mark Janes 60), Andy Gunn (Charlie Wise 46), Zac McEachran (Duran Martin 46), Declan Benjamin (Lester Davies 73), Ricky Johnson, Felipe Barcelos (Leam Howards 46), Darius Browne (Mark Bell 46).
