The first occasion the clubs met was in the First Round of the 2010/11 competition when Sphinx won 2-0 at their ground, then the clubs met in the quarter-finals in season 2012/13 when Sphinx won 5-1, again at their ground, and the following season (2013/14) the clubs once more met, this time in the First Round at the Spencer Stadium with United prevailing on that occasion 1-0.
