Burnham are the visitors to the Spencer Stadium tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) for a Southern League Premier Division game.

This season is the first for Burnham as a Southern League Premier Division club, following them winning the Central Division title last season. However, they are no strangers to the Spencer Stadium as the clubs met regularly in the Southern League Eastern Division between seasons 2000/01 and 2003/04 and also in the Hellenic League Premier Division between 1995/96 and 1998/99. Burnham have also been here more recently in season 2008/09 when they left with a 1-0 victory in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy – our usual first hurdle exit!

Burnham have made a decent enough start to their first season at this level. Their away form has been particularly impressive, a win at Championship chasing Chesham United just a couple of weeks ago being their most recent success on the road and they beat this season’s FA Trophy last 16 side Hungerford Town at the Gore yesterday.

We travelled to Burnham for our first midweek fixture back in August. Though we had John Mbamarah sent off for a second yellow card offence prior to the interval we showed great character that evening to come away with a 2-1 win, a late goal from Kynan Isaac earning us all three points.

United mangager Edwin Stein will be hoping that his players carry over into tomorrow’s game the much improved second half performance at Hemel Hempstead yesterday when they gave the league leaders a “run for their money”.

United will be without Luke Cray who is serving a one game suspension and Wayne Blossom who serves the fourth of his five games suspension. Tom Ryan who was suspended at Hemel is though now available for selection once more.
