It was a proud moment for the club to have reached the final against a large number of entrants.

The Puritans have enjoyed a number of accolades in the last two years but a special reward came their way when chosen as a finalist in The Cherwell Business Awards 2017 for the Charity and Community category.

An entourage from the club with a number of club sponsors, Banbury Plant & Skip Hire, Walraven, Michael Jones Jeweller, SMR Projects Ltd and Bakers Coaches attended the glamorous function with 250 attendees at The Crown Plaza Hotel, Heythrop Park, Enstone on Friday 5th May 2017.

It was a proud moment for the club to have reached the final against a large number of entrants, with fellow finalists Banbury Young Homelessness Project and The Hummingbird Centre near Bicester, a cancer support and advice charity, going head to head for the title with The Hummingbird being the eventual winners of the category, which to be honest was well received by the large crowd and certainly deserved for their sterling work!

Chairman, Ronnie Johnson commented, the Cherwell District is home to a vibrant mix of businesses and for a sporting club to be recognised at these awards is an amazing achievement in itself and all involved with Banbury United Football Club should stand proud as we continue to move forward with our sporting facilities and services to the community.
