Banbury entertain Chesham United tomorrow (Tuesday) 7.45pm; a clash of two teams unbeaten in the league for ten and nine games respectively

Chesham are now in their seventh consecutive season at Premier Division level. After a sixth place finish in the first of those, they reached the play-offs for three consecutive seasons though success in those end of season lotteries would elude them each time.

The last couple of seasons has seen them finish in mid-table but it looks like normal service may well be resumed this season as they currently stand in eighth place and with plenty of games in hand of most of the teams above them they appear to have every chance of a top five finish once more.

Chesham arrive in fine form being unbeaten in their last ten league games which includes a 4-0 win over Basingstoke Town and a 6-0 win over Hayes & Yeading United. With ourselves now unbeaten in the league for nine games, it is really the clash of two in-form sides tomorrow evening.

Chesham have a very experienced side that remarkably includes three players with a total between them of over 1,000 Football League/Premier League games behind them, those being Darren Purse, Barry Hayles, still playing at the age of 44, and Mat Mitchel-King.

One familiar face to home supporters likely to be involved tomorrow on the Chesham side is that of attacking midfielder Sam Youngs who had a short spell with the Puritans during season 2011/12.

Banbury’s recent record against Chesham is though very poor. Hopefully that is not an omen as we have not beaten the Generals in any of our last nine meetings. And who can forget, well I wish I could, the games in season 2013/14 when we got hammered 8-0 at the Meadow and then just over two weeks later lost 4-0 here!

Away supporters are advised to use OX16 5AB for their Sat-Nav as the club’s official postcode may well take you elsewhere!

Admission Prices: Adults £10, Concessions (Over 60s and Full Time Students) £6, Under 16s £1.
