DJ Campton Sturridge joins Banbury United
Former Aston Villa forward is signed on deadline day
Banbury United have completed the signing of former Aston Villa forward, DJ Campton-Sturridge, in time for the 5pm National League deadline.
The 22-year-old has signed a short-term contract with the National League North side ahead of the Club’s clash against Hereford tomorrow.
DJ Campton-Sturridge is the cousin of former England international Daniel Sturridge but became a free agent in the summer after his deal at Premier League giants Aston Villa concluded.
The forward was previously on trial at Huddersfield Town’s ‘B’ team and found the back of the net during a clash with Bolton Wanderers. However, he opted to sign for Solihull Moors in order to secure first-team football as the Club competed for promotion into the EFL this season. He then moved on to Alvechurch to gain valuable minutes. The young forward has played 10 games there and scored one goal in a 4-3 win against Stamford.
