Gosport make their second ever visit to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium tomorrow. We met previously during their brief one year stay in this Division back in season 2012/13. Gosport were very much on the up then, having won promotion from the Southern League South & West Division the previous season and going on to follow that up with immediate promotion to Conference South – not surprisingly we lost both games to Gosport that season.

Gosport would go on to have four seasons in Conference South, the last of those saw them relegated back to the Southern Premier. And with financial problems to the fore they have found it very difficult this season, having picked up just eight points from their 28 games played and currently sit bottom of the table. Though with only one club relegated this season, they still very much have a chance of staying up if they can overtake Dunstable Town who sit just four points above them in what seems like a “two-horse race” to determine who stays up and who goes down!

Long serving manager Alex Pike was sacked back in September but returned under new club ownership in December. He has recently rung the changes and with four signings within the last couple of days, as well as plenty over recent weeks, as he looks to bring in players to take the club above Dunstable Town at the bottom end of the table, the teamsheet on the back page of the programme tomorrow may well require some amending!!

Earlier this season we travelled down to Gosport on a Tuesday evening in mid-October and a three goal blitz in the opening quarter of an hour put us on the way to a 4-0 win.

Our visit to Hereford last Saturday, playing in front of a crowd of just under 3,000, turned out playing wise to be rather a disappointment with us losing 3-0 and never really looking likely to trouble the Championship chasers. A win, albeit hard earned, at Easington Sports on Tuesday, to advance to the Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-finals ,at least gave the players a chance to get that Edgar Street game out of their system.

For Banbury, Leam Howards returns to the squad having completed his four game suspension and he is joined by striker Leon Lobjoit signed on loan from Northampton Town today until the end of the season.

The Arsenal v Everton Premier League game on BT Sport will be shown on the TVs and the big screen in the Clubhouse after the game – so no need to dash off up town after the game to watch it.

Admission Prices: Adults £10, Concessions (Over 60s and Full Time Students) £6, Under 16s £1.

Programme: £2.

Kick-off 3.00pm

Away supporters are advised to use OX16 5AB for their Sat-Nav as the club’s official postcode may well take you elsewhere!

Home supporters particularly as they know their way around should note that the old Chiltern Railways Car Park on the Tramway Industrial Estate is still available for parking free of charge, thanks to Chiltern Railways. This will provide a quick getaway after the game, avoiding the problems of getting out of Station Approach and help ease possible parking congestion at the ground. Entrance is via Swan Close Road and car park is at the bottom on the right, it is free to park there, thanks to Chiltern Railways. Post Code for the Chiltern Railways Car Park is OX16 5TB. Turn right out of car park, through the bollards and turn right down Station Approach – ground is 300 yards on the right.
