Halesowen Town is a club that we have visited on many occasions in our over 85 year history. The first time the clubs met was back in Banbury Spencer's first season in the Birmingham Combination in 1935/36, with tomorrow being the 27th time that the clubs will have met in league action at the Grove.

Prior to this season we had not met Halesowen since 2010/11, a season which saw the Yeltz finish bottom in the Southern League Premier Division and be relegated. Though promoted back to Premier Division level three seasons later, they have since then played in the Northern Premier League, that is until switched back to the Southern League this past summer.

We have already met Halesowen at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium this season, that was on the first Tuesday of the season when early goals from Charlie Wise and Greg Kaziboni would prove enough to give us a narrow 2-1 win.

This season has so far proved rather a struggle for the Black Country side. They currently sit one from bottom of the table with just 16 points from 20 games though at least they are very much in touch with sides immediately above them and a couple of wins in the next week would likely see them climb out of the relegation places. Mind you their recent form is quite shocking with just one point gained from their last eight league games and their confidence will not have been boosted by their 3-0 home defeat on Boxing Day to Stourbridge in the so called “No.9 bus local derby”. But as the old saying goes “beware the wounded animal”

The club can confirm that John Mills has now returned to Bath City. The club would like to thank John for his contributions and commitment during his loan spell with the Puritans. Manager Mike Ford has confirmed that Lee Henderson and Charlie Hawtin remain side-lined through injury but otherwise everyone has reported fit after the Boxing Day game.
