The home side started the better of the two sides. As early as the second minute a cross from the left saw Dion Frary shoot just wide stretching as he came in at the 12 yard line and then in the 12th minute a good move by King's Lynn ended with Simon Lappin shooting wide of the the far post from the edge of the Banbury penalty area down the left.

In the 20th minute a promising move by Banbury saw Jordy Ngathe cross from the left and Ricky Johnson under pressure from a defender headed wide.

Two minutes later though and Lynn went very close to opening the score when a cross from the left by Simon Lappin saw Craig Parker at the far post head the ball against the crossbar.

Whilst league leaders Kings Lynn had much the better of the rest of the half Banbury could take heart from the fact that they defended well to keep them out and stay on level terms at the break.

Banbury were improved early in the second half, certainly having their fair share of the game and showing good promise going forward.

However, in the 57th minute United were indebted to Jack Harding to keep them on level terms when he did well to come out and smother the ball at the feet of Liam Mrettam as he broke through.

On the hour mark a Ryan Hawkins shot, lacking enough power, was cleared off the line by Charlie Horton, then three minutes later, as King's Lynn again started to dominate once more, a Hawkins shot from the edge of the Banbury penalty area was well held by Harding.

But on 74 minutes United would shock the home fans by taking the lead when good build up play saw Leam Howards set Jack Self through on goal and he calmly fired the ball past Alex Street in the Linnets goal from 12 yards much to the delight of the travelling Puritan support.

On 81 minutes Harding made an excellent save to keep United ahead, diving to his left to tip a Michael Gash free-kick from a central position on the edge of the penalty area away for a corner.

But unlike last week at Slough, United couldn't hold on and in the third minute of stoppage time Mettam set up Hilliard and he fired the ball home from ten yards to earn the Linnets a point.

Whilst United players will be gutted to have conceded so late they can hold their heads up, having put in two sterling away performances against play-off chasing sides in the last two weeks.
