King’s Lynn Town Preview

King’s Lynn Town Preview

. Banbury United5 Apr 2019 - 09:35

Tomorrow (Saturday) Banbury United entertain King’s Lynn Town in a Southern League Premier Central Division game 3.00pm kick-off

King’s Lynn Town come to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium tomorrow in fine form, having won their last four league games, a run which has seen them virtually ensure themselves of a play-off place and climb to within two points (played same number of games) as second placed Stourbridge. The Linnets will thus believe that they now have every chance of gaining that second place come the end of the season, important, of course, to ensure home advantage in a Southern League Premier Central play-off final game should they get through a semi-final game. Scoring goals has not been a problem for Lynn this season, having notched already 70 league goals and they have playing for them second in the division’s top goalscorers chart in Adam Marriott who has got 20 league goals.

As for ourselves, whilst our overall good form at home this season was blotted by our defeat to Biggleswade Town two weeks ago, confidence should have been restored after the win at St Neots Town last Saturday that eased concerns about us being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

Whilst we have not won at Tennyson Road since 1988, and we duly lost there earlier this season, our recent home record against the Norfolk side (King’s Lynn or the newer club King’s Lynn Town) is better, though some would say rather sarcastically it couldn’t be worse! But who can forget the impressive 4-0 win over them two seasons ago!
