Supporters and friends of Banbury United are being urged by club representatives to partake in a club sponsored walk to help raise funds towards various projects currently being undertaken or being planned for the summer.
As supporters and visitors to the club will have noticed the ground has undertaken some major changes since it became supporter owned. Most noticeably the club's carpark has been completely resurfaced and plans are being put in place to provide cover for fans behind the King's Sutton End goal. There are also lots of other smaller jobs to be undertaken during the summer.
With this in mind the club is planning a sponsored walk on Saturday 1st July and wants as many supporters and friends of the club to get involved as possible. Leading the event are commercial team members and long term supporters Warren Bartlett and Pete Tustain.
Warren said “We’re looking to get as many people on the walk as possible. We’ve been inspired by our friends at fellow supporter owned club Merthyr Town who told us they were planning something similar. I would like to call on all the Puritan faithful who can manage the walk to download a sponsorship form and get family, friends and colleagues to sponsor them for the walk.“
Fans will enjoy a bacon roll prior to setting off from the clubhouse at 10.00am and will be provided with a bottle of water, but fans are encouraged to bring refreshments of their own on the day.
Pete Tustain added “The route is just under 10 miles and we’ll be looking to walk via some of our sponsors' outlets and premises and get a few pictures taken on route! We want to make it a real fun day and hopefully the weather will be kind to us! But rain or shine – We are United!”
10% of funds raised will be donated to the "Hands off our Horton" campaign
