Marlow arrive at the Spencer Stadium in the bottom half of the South & West table though they do have a few games in hand of those clubs around them as they have the distinction of being the only club in this division this season to reach the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy. Unfortunately they found Oxford City too good for them in that competition on Saturday, albeit they led 3-2 at one point before going down 6-3 at Court Place Farm, but will now be looking to start picking up league points from their games in hand, starting this evening of course, to move up into the top half of the table.

Marlow’s home form this season has been decent enough but it is away from Oak Tree Road that they have found life difficult with only hapless Bashley having picked up less points than the Buckinghamshire side, their solitary win coming at Wimborne Town.

We met Marlow at their place on the first Tuesday of the season. That game ended all square at 1-1. We went in front midway through the half through Leam Howards and though the home side had Devontae Romeo sent off for a second yellow card offence just after the hour mark Marlow showed their character by coming back to equalise despite being at a man disadvantage.

On the subject of playing with a man disadvantage, we did that admirably on Saturday for the whole of the second half, Leam Howards being dismissed just before the interval, to earn a point away to Swindon Supermarine in a 2-2 draw. In awful conditions in the second half with a strong wind and heavy rain and down to ten men it was a performance of character to come back with a well-deserved point.
