United entertain Redditch United tomorrow afternoon (Monday) in a Southern League Premier Division game kick-off 3.00pm.

Whilst we did not meet Redditch last season, they have been frequent visitors to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium in recent seasons having been in the Southern League Premier Division since being relegated from Conference North at the end of season 2010/11.

We have met Redditch many times in our history, going right back to the club’s first season in the Birmingham Combination in 1935/36. In fact, this season sees the 35th set of league games between the sides and this puts Redditch in third place in the list of teams that Banbury have met in league action most times, behind only Stourbridge and the now defunct Bromsgrove Rovers.

Redditch United were unlucky not to be promoted to Conference North at the end of last season. They finished second in the league behind Poole Town but lost out in the play-off semi-finals to Leamington.

This season has seen Redditch make an inconsistent start. After impressive wins in their first two matches against Chesham United and Stratford Town they then lost their next three against Weymouth, Kettering Town and King’s Lynn Town before getting the better of Kings Langley on Saturday. They thus have nine points from six games, the same as Banbury and the two sides thus sit in mid-table side by side in 10th and 11th places. However, Redditch have had the handicap of not yet having played a game at the Valley this season, playing a couple of home games at other local grounds. This is due to their new 3G pitch not quite being ready.

A reminder to supporters that, as usual, the small bar will not be available before the game or at half-time as it is required for sponsors and guests. It will be open to all after the game.
