Banbury United

Banbury United are seeking to end the season on high and are looking to achieve a league double over the Lambs on Saturday. Despite already being relegated, the boys showed fight, determination and spirit on Tuesday night against play-off side Boston United, which unfortunately ended in a 1-0 defeat. Tai Fleming’s impressive form continues with the captain’s armband. He has formed a strong partnership with Hamilton Bunga at the back and the pair will look to build on that foundation. Fleming’s new leadership has installed passion and commitment in the group, an epitome of the captain’s character and playing style.

Kevin Wilson has had a long list of injuries to contend with the past two fixtures, which has seen the Puritans play six games in 16 days in April. Wilson is hopeful a few of those will be available for the last game of the season versus Tamworth.

Tamworth FC

Newly-crowned champions, Tamworth FC are embarking on their last game in the National League North before they embrace the National League next season. This season saw the Lambs claim back-to-back league titles as Andy Peaks has changed the fortunes at Tamworth since his tutelage started two and a half years ago. Peak’s side has seen 28 wins, nine draws and eight defeats this season, leaving them on 93 points. A a win on Saturday will surpass AFC Fylde’s total of 95 last season.

Tamworth have been efficient in attack this year alongside being defensively organised as they boast the best defensive record in the division with only 29 goals conceded. This is testament to the back line and for Jas Sing in goal who has had an excellent season for Tamworth in between the sticks. He managed to break a 35-year-old club record of going the longest period without conceding a goal. This was a total of 905 minutes, beating Dale Belford's record of 712 minutes from the 1988-89 season.

Two former Andy Whing-era Puritans have also enjoyed their season with Tamworth. Ben Acquaye and Chris Wreh have both played crucial parts for the club in helping to secure the title. We look forward to welcoming the pair back to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium for the first time since leaving.

Previous encounters

Banbury’s previous encounter against Tamworth came in dramatic style as Simeon Maye hit a stoppage time winner to cause mayhem in the away end. Yussuf opened the scoring before Tamworth drew level minutes later, but a rare Simeon goal allowed the Puritans take the three points back to OX16. Another memorable encounter between the two sides saw Banbury clinch the Southern League central title against Tamworth in April 22. Banbury only needed a point coming into the game and after going 1-0 down from a wondergoal from Whittingham, Banbury drew level as Jack Stevens slotted home to start the taste of league title victory.

Spectator Information

Our stadium layout has changed for this season. Away fans should now enter and exit the ground via the Town End turnstiles. This is the first available right turn as you approach the stadium. Security staff will direct you.

All home supporters should enter and exit via the turnstiles at the main entrance, through the car park, by the clubhouse.

Standing and seated areas are available, with cover, as well as toilets and refreshments in both areas.

Please ensure you leave plenty of time for parking and getting into the ground. There is very limited spectator parking at the ground. It is always available for those requiring accessible parking. Spectators also cannot park on Station Approach or on Tramway Road.
We advise spectators park in the nearby Banbury Railway Station car park off Station Approach, where, parking is free. This free parking also includes Banbury Station East Car Park the multi storey car park accessed via Merton Street, the other side of the railway.
Although slightly further from the ground you will be able to depart quicker from this car park after the game than from Station Approach.
