Saturday 29th January

Following Saturdays first home loss of the season against Redditch United, Andy Whing’s side will look to get back to winning ways on the road against 18th placed Nuneaton.

The Puritans currently sit 12 points clear at the top of the table with 69 points, second placed Coalville Town sitting on 57 points following their 1-1 draw with Stratford on Tuesday. Saturday’s loss was Banbury’s 2nd of the season and comes after a 9-game winning streak.

Nuneaton come into this game having won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 in their last 5 games, their most recent game being a 3-0 win against Lowestoft. Nuneaton currently sit in 18th, 1 point above the relegation zone.

Player to Watch: The player to watch for Nuneaton is Striker Anthony Dwyer. Dwyer has scored 11 goals in 25 games this season and is experienced at this level with previous clubs including Alvechurch, Hednesford and Stourbridge. Dwyer will be their main focal point Saturday and stopping him will be key to getting a result.

Head-to-Head: The two sides last met in October, Banbury running out 1-0 winners thanks to a Chris Wreh goal. The two sides met 3 times previous to the October meeting. Banbury have won one and drew two of those previous meetings.

To book a place on the coach contact BUFC_Members@outlook.com. Tickets are £12 for members and £20 for non-members, it will leave the ground at 12pm.

Our good friends at Chiltern Railway, who provide great support with home Matchday parking, have been in touch to say they have had a few enquiries about Banbury to Nuneaton rail travel on Saturday. We wonder why?! There is some disruption to main lines and Chiltern advise travelling to Birmingham Moor Street, taking advantage of a Chiltern Group Saver, then walk to New Street for trains to Nuneaton.
