Money raised for Katharine House Hospice

The club was delighted that it was able to host a recent fund raising evening on behalf of Katharine House Hospice at the ground for one our Red & Gold Club members, Norbar Torque Tools.

Norbar is one of the town’s most successful businesses, who are world leaders in torque control equipment. They are very much a traditional Banbury company, based in the town since their inauguration 75 years ago.

Norbar arranged a charity match for their staff against a team from sister company Snap-on (UK) in Kettering on Friday 28 September. The result, unlike Banbury’s recent game against a team from Kettering, went the way of the home side who ultimately ran out convincing winners. For the players the result was less important than playing in the stadium, under floodlights, on a well prepared pitch.

However the real winners were Katharine House Hospice. Through pay to play donations from both teams, collection bucket shaking, sales of hot-dogs, cake, teas & coffees, and football scratch cards, the evening raised £570 for the Hospice.

One of the aims & objectives of Banbury United Community Football Club is enhancing the social, cultural and economic value of the Club to its Communities; events such as this are very important to us.

It was great to see the ground used to the benefit of Katharine House, who continue to provide specialist palliative care for adults with life limiting conditions across North Oxfordshire and surrounding areas.

The club value the support of Norbar and were pleased o be able to help them with such a good cause in return.
