The board of Banbury United Football Club are delighted to announce that ex-chairman, director and player Ronnie Johnson will become the club’s first ever Banbury United Ambassador.

Mr Johnson became chairman in August 2015, when the club became a supporter owned community club. He oversaw large reforms of the club and his tenure saw United regain their Southern League Premier status at the first attempt. He stepped down in September 2017, to concentrate on his successful business Star UK Travel.

He’s now retuning to support the board of directors to push the club forward and will be a face in the community to promote and further enhance the image and standing of the fan owned football club. Ronnie commented, “I have been a player, director, chairman and now ambassador, but my feeling for my hometown club has never diminished. I have a sincere passion for the grassroots game. This is a fantastic role for myself which will allow me to get actively involved in projects and raising awareness for Banbury United within the community and the football and business world.”

United Chairman Phil Lines was also quick to endorse the return of Ronnie Johnson and said “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ll have the enthusiasm and drive that Ronnie brings to everything he does, back at Banbury United. He is a regular face in the Banbury United sponsors’ lounge and part of his new role will be to host sponsors on a match day. Another new aspect the club will be looking at is the formation of “Puritans Past Players Association” and Ronnie will be taking an active role in the formation of this group. I couldn’t be more pleased to have him back involved with the club.”
