Long term Banbury United supporters Karen Archard and Geoff Gray will be the new co-ordinators for the club’s Spencer Villa Fund. The fund was set up two years ago for members and supporters of the Community Benefit Society to pay regular donations to supplement the weekly playing budget.

The fund is named after original club name Spencer Villa and has helped to support the team by bringing in players such as Felipe Barcelos and Conor McDonagh. There are 42 contributors to the fund who currently pay in over £700 per month towards the playing budget.

United’s Commercial Director Mark Allitt was keen to praise the contribution the fans were making and said “I can’t thank enough the supporters who have been paying into the Spencer Villa funds for the past 2 years. Money comes in from far and wide and we have contributions sent from fans in France and Australia, which is unbelievable!

Allitt added “Due to the Commercial side of the club growing very quickly, I’m having to concentrate on expanding other areas and so I’m passing over the running and co-ordination of the fund to Kaz and Geoff. They will deal with anyone who wants to join the fund and administer it on a day to day basis. I’m sure they will take the fund from strength to strength. I’m also delighted that Star UK Travel will continue to sponsor the fund and contribute a prize to one lucky contributor who will be drawn out at the end of the season”.
