Friday 18th March in the Clubhouse at the Spencer Stadium. List of Items for Auction now updated.

Banbury United Community Football Club will be holding an auction of sporting items on Friday 18th March in the Clubhouse at the Spencer Stadium. The club has 50 lots so far and hope to add more to the list between now and the auction.

Stand out items include a West Ham United shirt signed by Andy Carroll, a Hull City shirt signed by the team, a photo of Geoff Hurst signed by the 1966 World Cup winner, a photo of George Best signed by the late, great man himself and a Mercedes Formula 1 cap signed by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Supporters of Banbury United will be keen to get their hands on a programme from the 1973 1st round FA Cup game against Northampton Town, which has been signed by United players involved in the game, including all-time leading goalscorer Tony Jacques. There are also items from the world of Horse Racing including tickets for entry to Warwick Races and a Grand National race card signed by the winning Jockey and trainer.

The auctioneer will be Simon Davies who works for JS Auctions in Bodicote, a very experienced auctioneer previously with Bonhams, Holloways and Fellows (Birmingham).

Photo shows Banbury United Chairman Ronnie Johnson and Commercial Director Mark Allitt with some of the items for auction.

The evening will start at 7.30pm with a buffet and a chance for prospective buyers to view the lots before the auction starts at 8.30pm. Tickets for the event will be £5 to include the cost of the buffet and can be purchased by emailing auction@banburyunitedfc.co.uk or will be on sale from the boardroom at all home matches prior to the event.

If you are unable to attend the auction on the night then it is possible to place a bid in advance of the evening for any item. How to do this is detailed on the listing of current available auction items (click here) on the club’s official website. It is expected that further items will be added to this list prior to the event, the list being updated regularly.

Mark Allitt, United’s Commercial Director added “We’re delighted that so many sporting clubs and institutions have donated items for the auction. We hope this will be a well-supported event, not only by our own members and shareholders but the wider community and local businesses. It’s a chance to have a fun evening and hopefully boost club finances along the way. We’re also extremely grateful to Michael Jones Jeweller who are sponsoring the event”
