The heavy machinery was in at the Spencer Stadium over the weekend


Supporters will probably have noticed that on the far side of the ground the floodlight pylon nearest to the Sutton End has had one of its bulb casings hanging down inoperative for the last 12 months.

This caused a problem with the lux reading in that corner of the ground and following an inspection just under a year ago the club was given 12 months to rectify the problem. Thus in order to prepare for a new inspection the heavy machinery i.e. a cherry picker was hired for the weekend to enable repairs to be carried out, faulty bulbs on other pylons to be replaced and various nuts, bolts and fittings on another pylon to be replaced to make it 100% safe.

The picture above shows the hanging down casing on the pylon being moved back up ready for reattaching.

The photo below shows the pylon after all the work has been done

The club is confident the floodlights will now pass the forthcoming inspection.

Supporters should be able to see better the next time the floodlights are used which is likely to be on Tuesday 27th October when Didcot Town visit the Spencer Stadium for a league game
