A Josh Wynne hat trick helped Banbury Under 18's to an impressive win against Newcastle Town Under 18's to move them up to 8th in the league in the middle of a tough run of fixtures. At the start of the day Newcastle Town were 4th in the table and so this was going to be another tough game. Banbury were grateful to have some lads back from illness to boost numbers. The game was evenly matched in the early stages with Banbury working hard to create chances, but it was Newcastle who took the lead just past the quarter of an hour when a deep inswinging cross caught everyone out and a Newcastle player finished at the far post. This gave Banbury an even bigger task against a good side. However, Banbury fought back to level before half-time when after some good work by Ryan MacDonald on the left ended up with him crossing for Josh Wynne to finish smartly and so it was all square at the break. The second-half started positively with Banbury creating the better chances and deservedly took the lead when Josh Wynne shot from the edge of the area to score his second. The lead was short lived and Newcastle Town equalised shortly after. The game was well balanced as both sides were positive in looking for a winner, but it was Banbury who regained the advantage when a superb free kick from Ryan MacDonald from just outside the area gave their keeper no chance. At 3 - 2 the game was still looking as if it could have more goals to come and it did as Banbury sealed the win about 15 minutes from time when Josh Wynne completed his hat- trick when he again finished off a move after some good work by Ryan MacDonald. Banbury held out to secure the 3 points and now entertain league leaders AFC Telford Under 18's at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium on Saturday 8th December.
