Leamington 3 Banbury United 1
Despite an improved performance than of late, United slipped to their fifth consecutive league defeat with a 3-1 loss at Leamington
United got off to the worst of starts, going behind after just three minutes. The goal came from a corner on the right which Liam Daly headed back across goal into the far corner to deceive Andy Kemp
An equaliser came just after the half hour mark. Leamington failed to clear the ball away from a crowded penalty area and Ricky Johnson was brought down. Johnson picked himself up and took the kick himself and scored. However within two minutes Leamington had restored their one goal advantage when Jacob Blyth fastened on to a loose ball and shot over the head of Kemp with the ball dropping into the back of the net.
Banbury had some decent spells during the second half and the final ten minutes saw the home side under some pressure with United threatening to score but they couldn't find the equaliser.
Then in the last minute of the game, Blyth, against the general run of play, scored his second of the game and Leamington's third to make the final score 3-1 to Leamington.
Despite the defeat, due to other results going Banbury's way, they remain in 17th place and two points above the final relegation place.
