Banbury United 7 Woodstock Town Reserves 0
A comfortable win for the United Women's side in their Thames Valley League game at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium as they hit seven goals
United dominated the game from start to finish and though Woodstock battled to the end it was a comfortable afternoon for United goalkeeper Katie McLean.
United put themselves firmly in control of the game with two goals within a minute at the 12th minute mark.
Firstly Yazmin Holmes from wide on the left played a one-two with Josie Clark inside her on the edge of the Woodstock penalty area and her shot from a narrow angle hit the underside of the cross bar before nestling in the back of the net.
Just 22 seconds after the re-start Leah Kinch lifted the ball through from midway inside the Woodstock half towards Emily Parker who got the better of a defender before lobbing the ball over the visiting goalkeeper.
Parker would get her second goal on 21 minutes to make it 3-0 when a poor goal kick out by a defender went to her and she immediately from the edge of the penalty area struck the ball high over the kicker and the goalkeeper into the far top corner of the net.
In the 51st minute Heidi Malcolm-Day was unlucky to see her shot from the edge of the penalty area hit the post but two minutes later the fourth goal duly arrived when good play down the left and cross from Kailey Hardy found Katerina Poborska who made no mistake firing the ball past the goalkeeper from five yards.
Just five minutes later and it was 5-0 when a cross from the right by Malcolm-Day was helped on by Poborska to Rochelle Buick and though she was tackled the ball fell to Jenny Hoggins whose left foot shot from 18 yards flew into the top corner of the net.
In the 65th minute excellent work by Buick saw her then slip the ball through to Lynsey Burdock who competently slotted the ball past the visiting custodian from 12 yards.
With a quarter of an hour to go Rachel Dunbar's corner from the right saw Josie Clark's header at the near post smash against the bar with the ball coming down into the grateful arms of the goalkeeper.
But United were not finished and completed the scoring with a seventh goal in the 83rd minute when Hardy won the ball midway inside the Woodstock half before nipping the ball through to Debbie Andrews who competently slotted the ball home to make the final score 7-0.
