Chesterton Colts 2 v Banbury U13 United 7
By Stephen Norris
A well deserved win for Banbury United U13s
Banbury started spritely with four corners in the first 12 minutes - of which a Jaime Sanchez shot narrowly missed to the right and a Tyrese Smith header was cleared off the opponents line. Banbury conceded a free kick on 13 minutes when James Strong was pulled up for kicking the ball from his hands outside the box - shot deflected by the wall for an opposition corner. Banbury quickly broke from the resulting corner and a Tyrese right foot shot curled just beyond the left post. A short period of Chesterton Colts pressure was well contained by the Banbury back four with Christopher Norris heading well clear following a break by the home side. Banbury attacked again down the right flank and the resulting corner taken by Ethan Cleaver was knocked out for a goal kick. Banbury pressed high and Tyrese collected the ball from the goal kick but again curled the ball past the left post when it seemed easier to score. Banbury made the break through on 22 minutes when Jaime collected the ball from a goal kick and stabbed the ball into the net, 0-1 to Banbury. End to end play now - Tyrese through to curl past left post again, Chesterton Colts break held up by Christopher and Nathan Callow, home side shot over the bar from 12 yards. On 28 minutes Will Holman made it 0-2 to Banbury following neat play down the Banbury left when his shot went through the goal keepers legs. Chesterton Colts were gifted a goal on 33minutes when a goal kick was picked up by the home side and the ball was lifted over James's head, 1-2. Following the restart a Nathan shot hit the post before the home side equalised a minute from half time from a penalty for handball in the area. Half time 2-2.
Banbury brought on Oliver Upton and Jake Morgan in the centre of midfield at the start of the second half for Ethan and Jaime, with Will Holman moving to left midfield. Two minutes in Banbury were back in front. A lovely passing move down the left from Luke Hawes, Will Holman, Ollie Harris and a Tyrese shot was put into the net on the rebound by Oliver Upton, 2-3. Christopher and Nathan chased down a Chesterton Colts break and James was quickly out to narrow the angle and the home side shot missed to the right. Seven minutes into the second half a cross by Oliver from the right was steered into the net by Ollie from 6yds but was given offside. After a short stoppage due to a Luke injury a similar move this time resulted in an Ollie goal, 2-4 after 42 minutes. The remainder of the half was all pressure by Banbury. On 49 minutes Jake scored following a cross by Oliver, 2-5. Two minutes later Oliver dribbled through the home side defence and his shot was well saved by the keeper for a Banbury corner. The resultant corner was delivered well into the box by Oliver and Jake headed it firmly into the net, 2-6 after 54 minutes. Two minutes later Tyrese was in the right place at the right time to deflect a cross into the net from three yards out, 2-7. There were no more goals in the last quarter of an hour despite a Jake shot that narrowly missed and two Banbury corners. Full time 2-7.
