Cold Ash 0 - Banbury United 9
Encouraging start for U13s in Oxford Mail C League with 9-0 away win.
A comfortable win for U13 Spencer in their 1200 kick off at Cold Ash in their first 11 aside Oxford Mail game in league Group C.
After a cautious start Banbury started to settle and on 15mins Banbury had their first effort on target with William Whalley's 20yd shot well saved in the centre of the goal. Raul Ene then shot just over the bar. Two corners later the first goal came, direct from a corner taken by Cameron Woods (16). Cameron quickly followed up with his second from a nicely taken shot from just outside the box (18, assisted by Edward Rogers' through ball). It was then all Banbury with neat passes and use of the wings setting up another set of corners and more attempts at goal. Midfield were working intensely, closing down the opposition quickly. William's shot was blocked by a defender and Oliver Upton's rebound effort just missed to the left.
Nathanael Wakefield, Joseph Bennett and Dylan Manley replaced Raul, Sam Richards and Edward who had all worked relentlessly, with Freddie Whitton going into midfield and Nathanael up front. More of the same followed. Another well taken corner on the left by Cameron into the opposition 6yd area was met by Nathanael who was quickest to react scoring Banbury's third on 28 mins. Banbury went in at half-time up 3-0.
The second half started at a blistering pace with three Banbury goals in the first three minutes. Nathanael dribbled into the area to make it 4-0 on 36mins, a minute later William scored with a well hit left foot shot (assisted by Freddie) and Freddie scored a minute later slotting in a rebound from a Cameron shot. 6-0 Banbury and game over! There was time for more.
On 40mins Freddie's shot was pushed onto the post and Dylan's rebound fizzed over the bar. There were two more Banbury corners on the left hand side after which Edward, Raul and Sam replaced Cameron, Freddie and Oliver. The opposition had only their second corner of the game (48) and their first shot at goal (51). Two minutes later Nathanael's shot hit the left post and the clearance was collected by Raul who shot over the goalie to make it 7-0. Raul scored his second 3 minutes later with a powerfully struck shot over the goalie from 25yds out to make it 8-0 [These full size goals certainly make a difference]. Cameron, Freddie and Oliver replaced Dylan, Tom White and William for the remainder. Two opposition corners were dealt with easily after which it was all Banbury again. Cameron completed his hat trick (67) with a fine shot, assisted by Freddie.
The forwards always caused problems for the opposition with their pace and ball control. The midfield chased and chased supporting the forward play and back four. Joshua Buckmeier, Oliver, Jake Morgan, Sam and Joseph were solid at the back swallowing up any opposition attempts and they started many of Banbury's forward plays, Joshua was always first to the ball. Ollie Harris in goal had little to do all game but when called upon collected the ball and distributed well to the wings. Overall a great TEAM performance that reflected all the effort and hard work put in by everyone during the game and pre-season. FINAL SCORE 9-0 AWAY WIN TO BANBURY. After just one game Banbury top the Autumn C league on goal difference. There will be harder games to come.
