Reading FC U13s 8 - Banbury Spencer U13s 1

Spencer U13s slip to third in C League after being well beaten by the league leaders
U13 Spencer well beaten in their 1130 kick off away at unbeaten league C leaders Reading FC.
Banbury started very slowly and were 2-0 down inside the first 3 minutes. The first should have been offside, but the second was a neatly taken volley that looped over Ollie Harris. Banbury conceded two more goals on 11 and 12 minutes following a goal kick straight to the opposition and a pass back from the Banbury kick off, 4-0. Banbury held their own for the next twenty minutes with Edward Rogers having Banbury's first attempt on goal on 33 minutes saved well by the goal keeper. This followed a neat set of passes up the left hand side from the back. However, one minute before half time the home side scored a fifth with a deft chip over the outcoming Ollie, following a break and pass through the Banbury defence. Half Time 5-0.
Banbury started better in the second half. Some neat interplay between Dylan Manley and Freddie Whitton on the left fed Edward, whose shot on 40 minutes beat the keeper, 5-1. The home side regained control of the game and scored again on 52 minutes (a dribble through) and 53 minutes (ball over the defence), 7-1. On 59 minutes the home side were awarded a penalty when their forward 1 on 1 with Ollie was pulled back, the penalty hit hard to the left, 8-1. The game was stopped whilst Ollie received treatment having prevented another attempt on goal. The nearest any side came to a goal in the last 10 minutes was a home side header against the bar.
FINAL SCORE 8-1 LOSS. It is unlikely that Banbury will play a better organised team in the U13 C League this season.
