Under 10's v Grove Challengers

An entertaining game was played out at Horton View on a brisk November morning.
Both teams started out well with good passing and movement. Banbury began to get the better of the opposition with good pressure, an early chance fell to Joseph who saw his effort tipped wide following an excellent save from the Grove Goalkeeper. A few minutes later and a fierce shot from Rowyn was again saved as the Keeper charged it down.
At the other end a shot from Grove was pushed wide and from the resulting corner, Banbury managed a quick breakaway upfield with some fine passes and again good Grove goalkeeping kept Banbury at bay.
Grove took the lead against the run of play, after neat build up play. The resulting shot was saved but Kallum couldn’t keep it out as the rebound was pounced on. Shortly before half time Joseph brought Banbury level after beating a defender and slotting a fine shot into the net.
Banbury were again on the ascendency into the 2nd half, a corner whipped in and met with a fine shot and with the keeper beaten, the ball hit the post and was saved as it went across the line. Fine play down the wing from Nathan was met by Cole whose shot, looped narrowly over the bar. A few minutes later, excellent play again from Nathan found his shot pushed wide from fine Grove goalkeeping.
Grove were not to be outdone, a ball over the top of the Banbury defence was cleared by Kallum. Banbury managed to take the lead after a fine turn and shot from Cole sailed over the Grove keeper. Joseph added another soon after as he fired low into the corner to beat the keeper.
