A great all round team performance helped Banbury overcome a good Easington team at Addison Road.
A very positive start saw Banbury have the better early chances for which Easington matched with some last ditch defensive play. It wasn’t until the last minute of the 1st half that Banbury finally had a breakthrough. A good through ball from Mick Antwi was taken on by Joseph Sparkes who, was brought down in the area and got up to convert the resulting penalty.
Banbury didn’t let up the pressure in the 2nd half and good passing and movement found Cole Relton in the box, who’s effort went in off the post to double the lead. Banbury continued to dominate, Mick Antwi going close, having his shot saved and cleared off the line. Ten minutes in to the 2nd half and Rowyn Moore brilliantly flicked the ball, ran around the defender and saw his effort go narrowly wide as the Easington keeper charged out.
A few minutes later and Joseph Sparkes made it 3-0 as he took the ball down the line, cut in and bent the ball around the keeper from a narrow angle. Easington were reduced to very few chances, a ricochet from a shot going narrowly wide was as close as it got for them.
But it was Banbury who were clinical, Joseph adding a 4th towards the end of the match as the team passed it around the Easington defence.
