Banbury under 10’s returned to league action for the first time since early December and made an impressive start against a very determined Grove Challengers side. Despite a succession of corner kicks early on they could not break the Grove defence.
It was Grove who ceased the initiative as half time approached scoring from a corner that Banbury failed to clear. Mick Antwi’s shot narrowly wide was as close as it got for Banbury.
After half time Banbury continued to have the better of the play and it wasn’t long before Joseph Sparkes brought the scores level with a deserved equaliser. A few minutes later and the Banbury boys confidence continued to grow, a Rowyn Moore shot making it 2-1.
Banbury started to dominate and Rowyn fired in another to make it 3-1. Despite the keeper’s best efforts towards the end of the match, he could not keep out Cole Renton’s effort as Banbury ran out 4-1 winners.
