It was a good morning’s football from the Under 10’s down at the Wiltshire border. Only a few minutes in and Banbury started creating good chances, Max Galloway shooting narrowly wide on a couple of occasions. Max latched onto a defensive mix up 10 minutes in, his shot coming back off the post into the Stanford keeper’s grateful hands.
Five minutes later and good play down the right wing from Nathan Whyman was rewarded when his inch perfect cross was aided into the net – a neat touch from Max to put Banbury 1-0 up.
Banbury continued to press in the 2nd half, a free kick from Joseph Sparkes was narrowly wide. Rowyn Moore deserves a special mention, narrowly missing a couple of chances. His effort that hit the bar looked over the line to me, but wasn’t given!! A fantastic effort that had the keeper beaten all ends up.
Great determination was soon rewarded after Rowyn’s 1st time shot could only be parried back to him from the keeper and he followed up with a well deserved goal.
