v Quarry Trinity Rovers 01 Oct

Banbury under 11’s completed a comfortable victory at Margaret Rd, Headington this morning to maintain a 100% winning start to the season against Quarry Trinity Rovers.
Both teams made a bright start early on. After 10 minutes Banbury started to exert better pressure with Joseph Sparkes shot on goal saved and Max Galloway shooting just over the bar on 13 minutes. Two minutes later, Mick Antwi picked the ball up just over the halfway line - his cross was headed on by Filip Wójcik and heavily deflected leaving the keeper helpless as the ball looped over him to put Banbury into the lead.
In the 20th minute Joseph was unlucky as a good effort on goal went narrowly over the bar. In the 23rd minute Rowyn Moore was just as unfortunate as he took the ball from a throw in on the left and shot past the keeper only for it to hit the bar. Five minutes later Rowyn made no mistake as a through pass from Filip split the Quarry defence which he coolly slotted past the on rushing keeper to put Banbury 2-0 up as half time approached.
If anything Banbury began to take control in the 2nd half, 5 minutes into the half saw a fabulous run from Joseph from the right hand side who proceeded to dance with the ball at his feet, through the defence to the middle and his shot cannoned back off the post. Not to be outdone he repeated the move 2 minutes later and this time found the back of the net for a 0-3 lead.
Quarry’s heads began to go as they struggled on, Max Galloway had a rasping shot sail just over the bar in the 48th minute of the game. In the 50th minute Max made another run on goal and was brought down as he turned the defender, only for the referee to waive away the penalty appeal.
In the 53rd minute another great chance was created by Max, his shot saved only for Rowyn to follow up for Banbury’s 4th. Luke Penfold was found from a fine through ball from Rowyn, his shot narrowly over the bar in the 55th minute. Quarry Rovers didn’t give in and created a couple of chances late in the game, however the game became stretched and quick thinking from Kallum Vaughan in the dying minute of the game set up Liam Piggott, in turn passing it down to Rowyn on the left, he turned and slotted the ball past the Quarry keeper for a well earned hat trick.
