Under 11’s bounce back in style

A trip to Cane Lane sports ground Grove proved very worthwhile, as the Under 11’s put last weeks defeat well and truly behind them.
With barely 3 minutes on the clock Charlie Woods intercepted a Grove goal kick and fed Rowyn Moore who continued his excellent scoring form to put Banbury in the lead.
Banbury continued to pile on the pressure, Liam Piggott going close before on 10 minutes Joseph Sparkes was in on goal to put the boys 2-0 ahead. In the 12th minute Rowyn was again on the scoresheet for 3-0.
Grove continued to struggle to get to grips with the pace of the game and in the 22nd minute Max Galloway made a nice run down the left, turned in and beat the keeper for Banbury’s 4th. In the 23rd minute it was 5-0 as Charlie’s cross was met neatly at the far post by Max. Filip Wójkic was very nearly on the scoresheet in the 25th minute, his effort just wide.

Grove improved as the 2nd half progressed and the game became more even, Rowyn and Filip missing good chances for Banbury and a golden chance from a Grove corner in the 42nd minute was kicked just over the crossbar.
However a mistake from the Grove keeper was punished in the 50th minute as Luke Penfold latched onto a mis-kick for Banbury’s 6th. In the 54th minute Charlie ran onto a throw in and nipped the ball past the keeper for 0-7.
Rowyn was very close to getting a hat-trick in the 56th minute, his shot deflected onto the post only to rebound and get cleared. In the 58th minute a free kick from Max on the edge of the Grove area was fantastically executed – only to be ruled out for an infringement!
