Great effort from the Under 11's
By John Vaughan
v Bullingdon 15th April
After an unexpected weather affected month off it was back to business for the Under 11’s in a feisty game at Peat Moors Sports Ground, Oxford.
The bumpy pitch didn’t allow for intricate play and the first half reflected this with some scrappy play from both sides. Filip Wójkic and Joseph Sparkes had Banbury’s only efforts at goal in the 10th and 12th minutes repectively, both saved. Bullingdon had a direct free kick in the 18th minute wide of goal. The teams were level 0-0 at half time.
The 2nd half had a sluggish start but the game did get better for Banbury as the half progressed. Charlie Woods placed a neat flick to Rowyn Moore who controlled it beautifully with his left foot and narrowly put the ball over the bar with his right with 40mins gone. Five minutes later Banbury took the lead with some great work from Liam Piggott on the right hand side crossed from the byline for Joseph to neatly finish a well worked move.
The game was livening up and Bullingdon were keeping a bit of pressure on Banbury and were to be rewarded with a goal of their own from a corner kick in the 50th minute. Banbury got stronger and had a flurry of good chances at goal towards the end, Luke Penfold and Filip didn't quite manage to add to the scoreline and at the end a fair result.
