U11 United win in local derby

Banbury United Under 11’s made a very determined start at Addison Road in this local derby against Easington. Edward Leney was making good breaks down the left hand side, a momentum the lads carried on for the 1st 10 minutes of this match with Easington just about defending everything that came at them. In the 15th minute a fabulous through ball was picked up by Max Galloway who ran direct for goal, shrugging off a couple of challenges and finished an excellent run in style, chipping the on rushing keeper to make it 0-1 to Banbury.

Five minutes later Banbury were awarded a penalty after the keeper mistimed a tackle with his feet, Joseph Sparkes converting to put the lads 2 up. Banbury continued to press with Easington offering very little, Cole Relton latched onto a crossfield ball, his shot narrowly over the bar from just outside the area in the 25th minute.

The 2nd half started fairly frantically, Banbury’s 1st attack in the 32nd minute, down the left hand side was crossed in, the ball bounced off the keeper and Charlie Woods was on hand to put the ball into the net. Three minutes later Banbury gave away a free kick near the edge of the area and Easington looped a shot at goal to make the score 1-3. Two minutes later a penalty was awarded to Easington. The shot was placed to the keepers right, hit the post and went out for a goal kick.

The goal kick was taken, Mick Antwi played a fabulous pass down the right hand side for Charlie to latch on and get his 2nd of the game to make the score 1-4, (moments after it could have been 2-3).
The game calmed down as time wore on and in the 56th minute Joseph headed in from a corner for his 2nd of the game.
