The first twenty minutes were rather uneventful. The first real chance came on 22 minutes when David Staff delivered a perfect cross field ball from the right hand touch line over to Marvin Martin on the left who took the ball down the wing and delivered an excellent cross, only for Nabil Shariff's header to go just over the bar. Two minutes later Martin again advanced down the left but this time cut in and went on his own but his effort was well saved by goalkeepr Alan Walker-Harris.
On 41 minutes a cross from the left was missed by the visiting goalkeeper and the ball fell to Adam Learoyd on the far post who fired it from a narrow angle into the corner of the net to put Banbury 1-0 up. On 45 minutes Wimborne had their best effort of the half wehn Pau Roast drove the ball from 25 yards forcing Joe Murrell into a decent save.
Banbury were looking reasonably comfortable at 1-0 during the first quarter of an hour of the second half but on the hour mark Jason Taylor received his marching orders for violent conduct after grabbing Ross Lloyd around the throat. Four minutes later Delroy Gordon had the ball in the back of the net for Banbury but the goal was disallowed for off-side.
The equalising goal came on 78 minutes when James Stokoe struck the ball into the top corner of the net from around 10 yards.
The teams will now replay at Wimborne on Tuesday night.
Jason Taylor will be suspended for three games and will miss the home game against Salisbury City, the away trip to Windsor & Eton and the home game against Cambridge City. Alternatively if you are a very optimistic Banbury United supporter he will miss the next round of the FA Trophy and the home game against Salisbury and the trip to Windsor!
