Annual match saw fans return to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium for the new season

Banbury United won the Ron Thomas Memorial Trophy following the annual friendly fixture against Easington Sports FC last night (July 16th).

The result at full-time was 2-2 and hosts Banbury won the game 4-2 on penalties. A crowd of 265 came to watch our first home match of the new pre-season.

Banbury United manager, Simon Hollyhead, used the match as a valuable opportunity to execute strategies from training and assess players as part of his pre-season plan. Learn more via Simon’s post-match interview with Puritans Radio, here.

“It was great to see Puritans and supporters of the Clan mingle and enjoy a fine display of local football at our first home pre-season match, as well as to host the family of Ron Thomas at this, the 29th staging of the Ron Thomas Cup,” said Wayne Farrell, Chairman of Banbury United. “Easington performed very strongly with their established team and we wish them the very best for the season ahead.”
