Banbury United football academy last week were announced as winners of the TacTic league T3.

The students, who attend Banbury & Bicester college for their level two and three sports qualification as well training and playing with us at Banbury United, won a league which involved nine teams including Brackley Town and Oxford City. Winning the league by two points is a massive achievement in only their 4th season in competing in a competitive league.

Each year the college programme has gone from strength to strength. From winning their final game of the season four years ago for their only win of the season, to this season where we have won a total of ten league games and only been beaten three times.

Our students are met with obstacles throughout their journey with us with no where to train and spending the last few months training in spiceball gym, only training twice a week where other alike programmes train five days a week.

Despite the challenges, they have pushed themselves to their very best to be able to be successful. This year has also been a success in our quest to improve our player development with a player from the academy playing for our first team squad in Lewis Middleton. We have also had the likes of Leon Norman winning trophies with local side Adderbury Park, with many players also still playing with our youth teams.

Overall this season has been a massive success for the programme. If you are in year 11 and would like to attend the course next year please go to https://banbury.activatelearning.ac.uk/courses/detail/national-extended-diploma-in-sport-pearsons-btec-level-3-rqf/
