Banbury United FC is delighted to share that we have secured the services of Glyn McGuire, of The Reporters’ Academy (TRA), to make a documentary about the Puritans. Glyn, a former professional footballer, is kindly donating his time for free to the Club.
The concept is a 45-minute programme, telling different stories that convey the meaning of the Club to the town of Banbury. It will focus on past and present players, fans, and volunteers. It is a creative project led by Glyn – the Club is facilitating Glyn’s access but the characters will do the talking. The timing of this documentary is not linked to the current consultations over the future of Banbury United, although it may turn out to be a fortuitous record of an important moment in our history.
The complete documentary is planned to be published on our YouTube channel – although if Netflix hears about it, they may offer us mega bucks for the rights!
TRA is a ‘not for profit’ media production company that positively changes the lives of young people. Media students from Banbury College are helping Glyn with the filming and editing. We’re delighted to be part of something by the community, for the community.
Glyn will be filming at tomorrow’s Southern League Premier Central League match v Stratford Town FC. He will be capturing scenes of a Saturday matchday at the Spencer Stadium powered by egg and, importantly, the fans who bring the atmosphere. So, sing and cheer loudly, and if this is not for you and you do not wish to be filmed, have a polite word with Glyn.
We’ll share news regarding the premiere in due course.
