The challenge has been an extreme rise in the river level. Drainage valves were closed to prevent river water backing up through the pitch, while pumps were deployed throughout yesterday to drain the pitch’s system. The fight continued into the night and early hours of the morning, with Directors on site using the pumps again in a final attempt to get the game on today.
Unfortunately, despite every possible effort, the conditions have made the pitch unplayable.
This is now the third home game postponed in a row, and the financial impact on the club is significant. We thank everyone involved for their tireless work and appreciate the continued support and understanding of our supporters.
