20 year-old player is announced as our first signing of the summer.

Banbury United is pleased to announce the signing of former MK Dons Defender, Jack Davies, as the Club's first summer acquisition. The 20-year-old joins The Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium after the expiration of his contract with MK Dons, concluding his longstanding affiliation with the club.

Having joined MK Dons at a young age, Jack progressed through its academy ranks and signed a professional contract on August 24, 2020. He made his professional debut in the EFL trophy match against Southampton U21s on November 11, 2020, and went on to make three additional appearances in the competition, including an impressive 6-0 victory over Norwich U21s. Impressing with the first team led Jack to earn a professional debut for MK where he came on in the 77th minute in a 3-0 defeat away at Peterborough on 16th January 2021.

With limited playing time at the start of the 2021/2022 season, Jack was loaned to Oxford City, where his outstanding performances in defence caught the attention of his parent club. During his loan spell, he featured in 19 games in the National League South, contributing to six clean sheets as part of a solid back three.

In the 2022/2023 season, Jack embarked on a loan spell at Concord Rangers in the National League South, making 14 appearances before returning to Oxford City for another loan stint in the second half of the season. He played a further 13 games for the club, scoring one goal, and featuring in the National League South play-off semi-final against Worthing, to help Oxford City secure promotion to Step 1 for the first time in its history.

Speaking after signing for The Puritans, Davies said: “I’m very happy to be here. I’ve been following Banbury United since the promotion year and heard a lot of positive things about Mark Jones from the lads at Oxford City. I’m excited to be part of the new era at the Club.”
