Banbury United’s 2023-24 Vanarama National League North season fixtures are released

Banbury United’s 2023-24 Vanarama National League North season fixtures are released

. Banbury United5 Jul 2023 - 11:25

With the season only 30 days away, the eagerly awaited fixtures have been announced. Here are some of the key dates for your diary.

What is the opening fixture?

The Puritans kick off the 2023/24 season with a home game against Spennymoor town on Saturday August 5th at 3pm. The reverse fixture was coincidentally our last home fixture of the season in 2022/23 season where we were defeated 1-0 but officially secured our survival at Step 2.

Who is our first away game?

The red and gold army will make the 194-mile trip north to Scarborough for our first away game of the season on August 12th. Similarly to Spennymoor Town, Scarborough was our previous last away game in the National League North as the Banbury fans celebrated the away game with a Hawaiian themed outing by the beach. Maybe we can expect a repeat of Hawaiian shirts in the August sunshine?

When is the local derby?

Banbury vs Brackley will be a double header over the festive period. Banbury will host the National League mainstays on Boxing Day with the reverse fixture commencing the start of the new year on January 1st 2024.

Travel to the newly relegated side?

Ex-football league club Scunthorpe will visit the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium on Tuesday November 7th. The reverse fixture will see the Puritans travel to Glanford Park for the first time in our history, where we’ll aim to put on a show in the over 9,000 capacity venue.

Travelling to the newly promoted sides?

We make a return visit to The Pics as we face Rushall Olympic away on August 26th. During our previous visit, Banbury came from behind to win 2-1 with goals from now National League players, Jack Stevens and Chris Wreh.

September will begin with our second longest journey of the season to South Shields on Saturday 2nd as The Mariners embark on their first season at Step 2 in their short history.

The Club will make the relatively short journey to Tamworth on Saturday 11th November where the previous two winners of the Southern League Central Division will meet again.

Instead of last-minute Christmas shopping on Saturday 23rd December, you can now have other plans as the Club will be ready to travel to Cheshire where Banbury will face Warrington Town.

Longest trip of the season

The Puritans will be getting the mileage up straight away in the new year as our first Saturday away game will be clocking up a 516 mile round trip to Blyth.

Last away game of the season

The club will finish their away day journeys seven days prior to the season ending in Lancashire as the club hopes to gain victory over Chorley at Victory Park.

Last home game of the season

Banbury will host Tamworth on the last day of the season on April 20th 2024. If this game can bring half the joy endured by fans on Tamworth’s last visit to the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium then Banbury fans can be sure to enjoy a good spectacle.
