History will be made again on Saturday as Banbury United contest their first ever Vanarama National League North home game at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium in front of what will be a large home crowd. We welcome one of the favourites for the title, AFC Fylde in what will be a stern test for Andy Whing’s side!
Fylde were successful in their first game of the season, coming from behind to beat Kettering Town 2-1 thanks to goals from Connor Barrett and Nick Haughton. Fylde have been busy this summer having made 9 signings in attempt to push for promotion to the National League. One of those signings being the aforementioned right-back Connor Barrett who they signed from Kettering Town.
Coming off the back of a history-making first win against Curzon Ashton, the Puritans will look to upset the odds against favourites Fylde, no easy task but one that we know our side will be up for. Let’s get behind Whingy and the lads as we continue our first ever National League North journey!
We know supporters will do this in a positive way but to confirm, in line, with the FA and National League, we are supporting strong measures across football to tackle antisocial and criminal behaviour within football grounds – including entering the pitch without permission and carrying or using smoke bombs or pyros. These are illegal, dangerous and have serious consequences. They have no place in our game. Anyone involved in these activities will be banned by their club and reported to the police.
Visit our Ticketing Portal for tickets – buying in advance saves queuing time at the ground.
Admission prices: Adults £15, Concessions £11 Students with ID £8, U18s £5 U11s £2. Spectators can enter the round from turnstiles at both the Clubhouse End and Town End, where cash or card payments can be made. The Clubhouse End turnstiles will open at 12.30 pm. Town End at 1.30 pm.
Banbury United Community Benefit Society members who joined by 1 August are entered into a free draw for a pair of season tickets and the draw will be made tomorrow..
We welcome our match sponsors John Nicholls, and it is fitting that as long term supporters of the club they should be here on our first game at Step Two,
Catering will be provided by our new partners Regs Catering with hot food available in the clubhouse and from the Town End tea bar. The club shop will have replica shirts to purchase. We will have a new look printed programme available for £3.
Our women’s section will be fundraising at the game. And our mascots are from the Banbury United Girls U11 team
With the reduction of size of the car park due to the Network Rail's temporary offices there is very limited spectator parking at the ground. Spectators also cannot park on Station Approach or on Tramway. Additional car parking is available in the Banbury Railway Station car park off Station Approach, follow directions of steward, where, thanks to the great support of Chiltern Railways, parking charges will not apply between 1300 hrs and 1830 hrs. Free parking also includes Banbury Station East Car Park the multi storey car park. Although slightly further from the ground you will be able to depart quicker from this car park after the game than from Station Approach .
It looks like being a hot one - please remember to bring water, sunhat and sunscreen
