Captain Yaw Ofosu calls supporters’ meeting tomorrow night

. Banbury United4 Dec 2024 - 21:03

All are welcome to put their questions to Yaw, Simon, and team members at 8.15pm in the clubhouse, and again next Tuesday evening.

At the request of first team captain Yaw Ofosu and his fellow players, Banbury United FC will host an open meeting tomorrow night – 8.15pm Thursday December 5th at The Spencer Clubhouse.

Following the team’s training session at 7pm, which everyone is invited to watch, Yaw will address frustrations at the team’s disappointing results and answer supporters’ questions in an unfiltered and frank way, face-to-face. Members and non-members are invited.

As we appreciate this is late notice, the session will be run again at the same time next Tuesday December 10th. Yaw would like to make this a regular event, to encourage direct two-way conversations with supporters.

If you are unable to attend and would like to have a question asked on your behalf, please email info@banburyunitedfc.co.uk.

Wayne Farrell, Chairman of Banbury United Football Club, said: “This week, we communicated to our members how much we shared their disappointment at recent poor results and that we as a leadership team are active and committed to enacting solutions to turn around our trajectory. There have been some extremely challenging and frank conversations with our first team management and senior players in recent days.

“The proactive, passionate input from Yaw regarding the project of building our four-month-old team has been compelling. He would like Banbury United fans to know that the team hears their voices and fully recognises why current performances and the league position is of such concern. As players, they own the results and would like to explain the situation in their own words.

“As a fan-owned Club, we’d like to give our supporters the opportunity to hear from Yaw as well. I would like to urge as many of you as possible to come down and to put your questions to Yaw, Simon and the team, directly, face-to-face.”

Your role at Banbury United

We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that Banbury United Football Club belongs to its members. To become a member, click here. The current (volunteer) Board of Directors has been elected by the members. Members have the power to influence Club decisions, for example putting themselves forward for election to the Board of Directors. They can decide the composition of the Board according to the rules of our Community Benefit Society – for example nominating and electing new board members and choosing not to re-elect current members. They can call EGMs.

In addition to day-to-day informal contact with Board members, we hold bi-monthly members' meetings, where healthy two-way discussion is encouraged, and issue a monthly newsletter updating members of activities behind-the-scenes. If you feel passionate about being part of your Club, and to changing and developing it then please consider becoming a member and have your voice heard.
