Claire Dumbreck has resigned from the Board of Directors and will continue to volunteer for the Club as Club Secretary and on other strategic projects.
Claire made the switch from Banbury United fan to board member after being voted in by members in February 2023. In just under two years, Claire launched a new Club crest and rebrand, set up a new communications team, and helped recruit and induct new staff members and countless new volunteers. She introduced the Club’s IT system, easyfundraising platform, Youth Player Memberships, digital matchday programme, local flyer drop marketing, monthly member emails and bi-monthly member meetings, as well as various new board and volunteer compliance measures.
“While I have decided to leave my seat on the Board, I will still be a big part of Banbury United, just in a lower key capacity that suits me a bit better. Working alongside board members past and present as hardworking custodians of this fantastic Club has been an absolute privilege. I urge fellow members to consider stepping up, joining the Board of Directors and helping to lead and make decisions facing the Club they own,” said Claire Dumbreck.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that Banbury United Football Club belongs to its members. To become a member, click here. The current (volunteer) Board of Directors has been elected by the members. Members have the power to influence Club decisions, for example putting themselves forward for election to the Board of Directors. They can decide the composition of the Board according to the rules of our Community Benefit Society – for example nominating and electing new board members and choosing not to re-elect current members. They can call EGMs.
In addition to day-to-day informal contact with Board members, we hold bi-monthly members' meetings, where healthy two-way discussion is encouraged, and issue a monthly newsletter updating members of activities behind-the-scenes. If you feel passionate about being part of your Club, and to changing and developing it then please consider becoming a member and have your voice heard.
