The 20-year-old midfielder joined the MK Dons academy at under 9 level and progressed through the age groups to earn a scholarship and captain their U18 side. Charlie made his first team debut for Dons in September 2018 in a home game against Peterborough United in the EFL Trophy.
Charlie gained non-league experience in season 2018/19 when joining Southern League Division One side Welwyn Garden City on work experience in January 2019, staying with them until the end of the season and though not a club asset he won the Young Player of the Year award at the Hertfordshire side’s end of season awards function. His progress did not go unnoticed at MK Dons as he was rewarded by them with a professional contract on completion of his scholarship in the summer of 2019.
Season 2019/20 would see Charlie have short loan spells with Southern League Premier Central sides Kings Langley and Biggleswade Town before he was released by MK Dons at the end of the season.
Last season Charlie signed in October for Southern League Division one side AFC Dunstable but the season was abandoned prior to him making his debut.
United manager Andy Whing commenting on the signing of Charlie said “We’re excited to announce the signing of Charlie Pattison and welcome him to the football club. He’s another one we’ve been in contact with for over a year now and he’s a player who’s desperate to improve himself and the team.”
Charlie is very much looking forward to coming to Banbury and said, “I’m very happy to have joined the club and I’m buzzing to get started and meet the lads.”
We welcome Charlie to the club and look forward to seeing him in action when pre-season matches start on 10 July with the visit of WBA U23s.
