Easington Sports would take the lead in the 11th minute goal when a Joe Eyre cross from the left was headed home by Callum Convey.
United would go close to equalising in the 18th minute when Conor McDonagh burst through down the left with his shot from a narrow angle deep inside the Easington penalty area past Adam Rimmer in the Easington goal being hacked off the line by Connor Grant.
But just two minutes later and a free-kick from the half way line was pumped deep into the Easington penalty area where Ricky Johnson coming in down the left headed the ball home from the edge of the six yard box to bring the scores level.
Banbury having now got back on level terms would go on to have the better of the remainder of the half.
On 28 minutes Johnson set-up Jack Finch but the former Coventry City player shot well over from 12 yards. Six minutes later and a free-kick by Winters was headed home by Johnson from 10 yards out but the assistant referee raised his flag for off-side.
A minute before the interval though and United were ahead when a corner from the right was headed back into the centre from the edge of the six yard box at the far post by Johnson with Charlie Wise heading the ball into the net from close range.
The second half saw Banbury have much the better of proceedings with Harding in the Banbury goal not being required to make any saves of note but missed chances, good defending and some sound goalkeeping meant they had to be satisfied with the 2-1 win.
It was a difficult heavy pitch and Easington made Banbury work hard for their narrow win but it is the Puritans who advance to the semi-finals where they join Kidlington, Oxford City and Oxford United in the semi-finals.
