Easington came closest to scoring early on when in the 12th minute there was an almighty scramble around the Banbury six yard line - but somehow the ball stayed out of the net.
It wasn't until the last quarter of an hour of the half that Banbury began to look dangerous. At this point Jack Goode in the Easington goal was finally made to make a save when getting down to hold a Felipe Barcelos effort. Three minutes later Jacob Blackstock shot on target from the edge of the penalty area but his effort didn't have the power to trouble the home custodian. On 40 minutes a dangerous cross from the left by Michael Hopkins went right across the six yard box but no Banbury player could get on to the end of it.
So the first half ended goalless but just seven minutes into the second period, Banbury were in front when Barcelos got the better of former Puritan Ben Milner on the right before crossing into the centre where Leam Howards knocked the ball home from close range. Three minutes later Barcelos went close to making it 2-0 but his shot from a narrow angle on the right went inches over the bar.
Banbury were looking comfortable at this point so it was rather against the run of play when Easington equalised, Josh Rose firing home from the edge of the penalty area.
However, in the 78th minute Banbury would get their second goal, and it would prove enough to regain the Ron Thomas Memorial Trophy, when an impressive passing move down the right involving several players ended with Zac McEachran striking the ball home from ten yards.
