End of Season Awards

Player of the year vote results in a tie!

With Saturday’s Championship game against Taunton of course sadly cancelled, the Player of the Season awards planned for post-match were unable to go ahead. On Sunday manager Andy Whing had arranged a family day for players and their families, inviting club volunteers too, and with this the last visit to the ground for them this season, took this opportunity to present the awards.

Andy wanted the day to recognise the contribution “The staff and players get fantastic support from their families and there are always sacrifices that have to be made for football. It is great to have the chance to say thank you to them for their support this season along with the volunteers who are the lifeblood of the club.”

The Players’ Player of the Year, voted for by the squad and management was Alex Babos.

Over 450 votes were cast for the Supporters’ Awards.

Young player of the Year was Jay Williams with over 30% of the votes.

The Player of the Year saw votes cast for 14 players but the result ended in a tie! Both Chris Wreh and Giorgio Rasulo receiving 18% of the votes.

Commenting on the awards Andy said “We have achieved success this year because we are a team but it’s great that individual contributions are recognised by supporters and teammates alike. A tie for Player of the Season and so many players getting votes shows just how hard it is to single one player out”

Congratulations to all.
