HE’S BACK! CHRIS WREH RETURNS TO BANBURY UNITED

Banbury United are absolutely thrilled to announce the return of Banbury legend Chris Wreh, the leading goalscorer from the 2021/22 season, on dual registration from Bedford Town.

Wreh needs no introduction to the Banbury faithful. The skilful forward was the driving force behind our most successful season in club history, lighting up the 2021/22 campaign as the team’s leading scorer. In 46 appearances, he netted 23 goals and provided 16 assists — an incredible 39 goal contributions, powering Banbury United to become Centurions and secure promotion to Step 2 football for the first time ever. That same season, the club reached the FA Cup First Round, where Ian Wright himself was full of praise for the Banbury forward.

His outstanding performances caught the eye of clubs higher up the pyramid, earning him a move to Southend United. He later had spells with Hartlepool United, Tamworth FC, Scunthorpe United, Hereford FC, and Bedford Town. During these stints, Wreh gained valuable experience at some of non-league football’s biggest clubs, racking up 87 appearances and 22 goal contributions across the National League and National League North.

Now, the 29-year-old is back where he made his name reunited with former teammate and now manager Kelvin Langmead and ready to pick up right where he left off.

Meanwhile, Alex Worley has also been dual-registered with Step 4 side Racing Club Warwick to gain valuable playing minutes, as he is cup-tied in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

Welcome back, Chris Wreh!
